On Expecting Miracles.

A little uplifting story for ya:  The other day I was chatting with my friend Mpho.  She said, “the more miracles you expect, the more miracles you see.”

I've been thinking about this all week.

It's comforting thought, to me.  A message full of hope.  Joyful expectation to have your socks knocked off in awe for all the miracles that abound.

Albert Einstein is credited as saying, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

I want to operate my life as the latter– as though everything is a miracle.

Even the hard stuff.  Even the stuff that feels like rejection in the moment-- may we find ourselves down the line perceiving that rejection as Divine redirection.

Where in your life are you overlooking the miraculous?

The grand things that worked out in your favor, yes… but also those tiny things–

  • the coincidences

  • the delays that led to chance encounters

  • the doors that got flung open

  • the doors that closed

  • the happy accidents

  • the God winks

The more I hold this belief at the foreground of my day, the less I feel stuck.  I know that when I take action in a direction--any direction!-- the exact right people and opportunities start showing up to either encourage persisting down the path or to put me toward something better.

Hal Elrod says:

EXTRAORDINARY EFFORT + UNWAVERING FAITH= MIRACLES.

Maybe you've got one, but not the other in equal measure.  That's where I'm checking myself, today.
